I'm here today to review Jiang Ling from Firefly diary / YHdoll.com
He is 100% silicone. I actually pulled out the measuring tape for this one. He's also 5'10" (177cm) I am aware that it says he's 5'9" (175cm) on their website but heights aren't always accurate depending on the batch that they made.
I however did not weigh him so we'll just say that he is the 98 lb (44kg) that they say he is... He has implanted eyebrows and eyelashes a hard silicone head and a separate head that also has implanted eyebrows and eyelashes and has an ROS mouth with a moving jaw. I did not get the implanted hair so I can't review that.
His penis is removable with a metal clasp to attach it you have to push the clasp down and then push the peg in to the slot in order to attach the penis firmly this can be slightly challenging my recommendation is to go underneath where the balls would go cuz there's a little bit of a gap there. This is one of my very few complaints and it's only a personal preference problem... The color of the penis is a little bit off from the color of the body. This seems to be true with most male dolls that don't have an attached penis. A positive side to this is that when they painted it which they did very skillfully.. this particular brand did not choose to use extravagant colors for different parts of it. Which I very much appreciate. I do recommend getting pubic hair for this area mostly because it'll hide the attachment and possibly negate from the color difference being that big of a deal.
I like the fact that not only is the paint job on the body really well done there's a lot of details that are just in the mold like the veins that pop out that would normally pop out on a person
they do on him as well which gives him a lot more realism I also like that when they tried to do shading on him it's with a more natural skin tone color so he kind of looks like he has a little bit of freckles but it's not that red color that they have a tendency of using that makes them look sunburned.
So far on the male dolls that I've seen a lot of them don't have fingernails actually put on It's just the shape of them is in the mold however with this particular brand they chose to do a paint job on the nails as well so that they look more realistic and I really enjoy that It's not ever going to fall off and it's always going to look like he has fingernails which is pretty awesome in photos.
They spent a lot of time with the artistry on the face as well It shaded very decently and it puts off really good photos from almost every angle The lips are just slightly a different color instead of looking like they have lipstick on they just look like natural lips something else I also appreciate.
The hand skeleton is articulated fingers.
So far it seems to be a very sturdy design and the hands the silicone is tough enough that it doesn't feel like it'll poke through
I do have a little bit of experience with that considering that I have six other dolls and Can kind of tell which ones are going to have finger poke through. I do still recommend being careful with them and I haven’t had him long enough to know for sure that there won’t be any damage to his fingers. But I have high hopes for it from the way it feels and the quality of the silicone. His joints are tight in most places and loose in areas where they should be… I don’t want you to think that there’s areas where he’s loose to be fair but it’s like for instance with his elbow if I went to move it away from his body instead of up or down it actually does move fairly easily whereas up and down you have to kind of struggle with it a little bit but I as a photographer would prefer the joints to be tight which is why they are.
His hands are actually fairly large which isn't always true and I also appreciate that.
The silicone that they used for him is actually fairly tough not squishy.
There are softer areas which kind of feel like it’s hollow on the inside which I’m sure has to do with his weight reduction procedures and I appreciate that too. A good portion of him however is firm He’s not super shiny there are areas where he is a little bit shiny but it’s not that bad and photos it comes off really well and a little bit of baby powder will do the trick.
He came packaged in a sleeping bag with lots of padding and styrofoam that matched his body
The box was a little bit danged up but that's shipping for you nothing on the inside was damaged in any way... And I feel like it's the first time I've been able to say that.
He did not come with any clothing or underwear at all like some dolls tend to have a little bikini or boxers or something but he doesn’t actually come with anything so make sure you buy him something before he gets there. Unless you want him to be naked all the time which I’m sure there are people who are like that he does look good naked.
I did get two wigs one per head...
The quality of these wigs is I want to say one step up above party wig costume wig...
There seems to be a little fake patch of skin underneath some of the hair so that it looks like it’s growing out of his scalp which is nice.. I personally just prefer human hair wigs so I have a tendency of getting a human hair wig for them anyway.. I will say that their wigs are better quality than I’ve seen in a lot of doll companies even if they aren’t up to par with what I would prefer.
So the ROS mouth when you open his jaw and look in he even has tonsils teeth that are attached and a tongue
that while you can't pull it out of his mouth will feel more realistic when you're either kissing him or enjoying his oral skills..
there is a tunnel behind the tonsils that goes back a good 6 to 5 in and is soft to the touch kind of squishy and tightens around even my finger even though it seems like it would be easy to push something larger down there too… I’m pretty sure if I was a guy I would really enjoy his mouth skills. But since I like taking photos the moving jaw and the oral structure look really good in photographs. It allows me to adjust his facial features just a little bit so that he can look grumpy or surprised or happy.. and gives me the option to let him chew on a pen or his shirt or a finger.. they did a really good job on making his mouth look realistic and when it’s closed it’s not like it distorts the face any either His face still looks like his hard silicone head with more features. His eyes are easily moved from one side to the other as well. Making for excellent photo opportunities. The irises are very artfully done and beautiful to look at.
Overall he's a very high quality doll..
with a very versatile face that can look like almost any anime character you would like him to look like.. having him here is a lot like having a piece of art. And I'm sure their company is only going to get better.
I 100% recommend taking a look at all the different options they have for him. And seeing if he would be a quality addition to your family.
